ALL-AREA VOLLEYBALL
FIRST TEAM
BRITTANY MUSE, DeSoto County, 6-0, Sr.
Do-it-all Herald-Tribune Player of the Year ignited the 27-5 Bulldogs’ run to the Class 4A state title match with 346 kills, 350 assists, 169 digs and 78 blocks.
SARAH GERALDSON, Bradenton Christian, 5-8, Sr.
Backbone of the 23-8 Panthers’ run to the Class 1A Final Four had 425 kills (.418 hitting percentage), 265 assists and 167 digs.
ALICIA GUERRERO, Sarasota, 5-7, Sr.
All-around athlete quietly had a spectacular year. Led the 16-11 Sailors with 304 kills, 287 digs and 109 aces, and has earned 11 varsity letters in four years.
COURTNEY MCDONALD, Manatee, 6-2, Sr.
Auburn-bound hitter is a four-year captain, a three-sport standout and carries a 3.6 GPA. Oh, and she powered the Hurricanes to a 26-3 season.
TAYLOR CAPASSO, Venice, 5-5, Jr.
Setter had 884 assists and 277 digs, but most impressively missed only nine serves all season for the 22-9 Indians, ranked No. 6 in the state (regardless of class) by MaxPreps.
DOROTHY RAHAL, Venice, 5-8, Jr.
Fiery hitter was chosen all-tourney at the Berkeley Premier and led the Indians into the 5A regional finals with 372 kills, 425 digs and a .239 hitting percentage.

COACH OF THE YEAR
BRIAN WHEATLEY, Venice
Despite a roster with no seniors, Wheatley did not back off — his schedule was as grueling as ever — and the young Indians blossomed into another state-title contender. It is the eighth time in 15 years that Wheatley has earned this award.
